Weekly Market Recap – Week Ending Oct 16, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

U.S. equity markets faced significant selling pressure this week, with sharp declines in technology and growth-oriented stocks contrasting with strong gains across defensive, energy, and value sectors. The NASDAQ 100 ETF (QQQM<\/strong>) plunged 5.54%, while the S&P 500 ETF (SPYM<\/strong>) fell 1.98%, weighed down by a steep 7.70% decline in Technology (XLK<\/strong>). Growth (VUG<\/strong>) also dropped 4.39%, highlighting a pronounced rotation away from growth-oriented equities. In contrast, Consumer Staples (XLP<\/strong>), Energy (XLE<\/strong>), Dividend Equity (SCHD<\/strong>), Health Care (XLV<\/strong>), and Materials (XLB<\/strong>) posted strong gains, while Value (VTV<\/strong>) advanced 1.28%, suggesting investors favored more defensive and value-oriented exposures. Despite the broader market weakness, select stocks maintained strong 30-day momentum, led by Moderna (MRNA<\/strong>), Petrobras (PBR<\/strong>), Shopify (SHOP<\/strong>), Marathon Petroleum (MPC<\/strong>), BP (BP<\/strong>), and Suncor Energy (SU<\/strong>), highlighting continued strength in energy, biotechnology, and select technology names.<\/p>\n
