Weekly Market Recap – Week Ending Sep 25, 2026
U.S. equity markets were mixed this week, with technology and growth-related areas leading while several defensive and rate-sensitive sectors moved lower. The NASDAQ 100 ETF (QQQM) rose 3.24%, and the S&P 500 ETF (SPYM) gained 1.29%, supported by strong performance in Technology (XLK), Communication Services (XLC), Health Care (XLV), and Industrials (XLI). However, Utilities (XLU), Energy (XLE), Real Estate (XLRE), Financials (XLF), Consumer Staples (XLP), Consumer Discretionary (XLY), Materials (XLB), Small Caps (VB), and Dividend Equity (SCHD) declined, indicating that market breadth remained uneven. Stock-specific momentum was strongest in selected technology, semiconductor, AI infrastructure, biotechnology, and clean energy names, led by Moderna (MRNA), Bloom Energy (BE), Intel (INTC), Arm Holdings (ARM), Lenovo Group (LNVGY), and SoftBank (SFTBY).
